VCPL regularly acquires the yearbooks from present day Vigo County high schools (North, South & West Vigo). Many yearbooks from past Vigo County high schools (such as Wiley, Garfield, and Gerstmeyer) have been donated to the library. However, not every school or every year is represented. There are very few elementary or middle school yearbooks. Yearbooks may not be checked out of the library.

The VCPL received an LSTA grant in 2002 to digitize select local history pamphlets and books from the Special Collections Department & the Community Archives. This project is supported by the Institute of Museums and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Indiana State Library. The ultimate goal of the project is to improve access to unique local print resources at the Vigo County Public Library.
